You, the meteorologist, will create and use your own weather station to predict changes in the weather. Construct a barometer to track air pressure changes, simulate a weather front, calculate wind speeds and make a tornado in a bottle. The forecast is all fun!

5/16 Performance
Join Child Drama Workshops for this interactive drama workshop including creative movement, theater exercises and improvisational role playing. Students will learn the fundamentals of the theater including stage geography and terminology. Basic acting techniques such as concentration, emotional awareness and characterization are explored. This creative experience allows children to express themselves imaginatively by improvising favorite stories and original ideas. Costume accessories and props will be used to enhance creativity during the workshop. An original and improvisation-based play will be presented to parents and peers on the final day of class on Friday, May 16. Mark your calendars!

Rookies is a music program designed for young learners (K-2) with no previous musical experience. As with all our music programs, Rookies uses the patented School of Rock Method. Performance-based music education is the best and most enjoyable way for students to gain musical proficiency. Rookies students have one weekly group music lesson where they learn music fundamentals like chords, rhythm and song structure. Rookies learn and experiment with multiple instruments like vocals, guitar and drums, so they are then able to decide which one they want to try at the next level, our Rock 101 program. Children will learn the basics of ballet, theater and jazz emphasizing proper technique and terminology, which are an essential foundation in the performing art of dance. In every class, students will participate in age appropriate activities that engage the students’ interest while encouraging them to improve their skills and gain an appreciation for this art form.
Dance Attire: Girls wear pink, black or white leggings and pink ballet slippers with names inside. Boys wear black track or sweat pants, white shirts and black jazz or ballet shoes with names inside. A dance bag is suggested for all their belongings.

Welcome to knitting! A fun and hands-on class where young crafters will discover the art of knitting! Whether you’re a complete beginner or have tried knitting before, this class will help you build skills while having lots of fun! Throughout the course, students will learn the basics of knitting, including how to hold the needles, cast on stitches and knit and purl. With these simple techniques, they’ll create their own knitted projects! Students will also explore different colors, patterns and textures to make each project unique and special. Each session will focus on a specific skill, with plenty of time for practice and individual guidance. By the end of the class, students will have the confidence to start their own knitting projects at home, and they’ll have one-of-a-kind handmade items to be proud of!
Togetherhood*: Artists of Harlem Renaissance (Grades 2-4)

Learn about the Harlem Renaissance through the art that was made. This class will highlight famous Harlem Renaissance artists, as well as the ways they used their environment, community, materials and techniques to create all kinds of artworks. Students will learn about artists such as Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringold and more. We will learn about and create paintings, collages, printmaking and drawing that share the students’ narratives.

Does your child love learning about space as much as they love sketching? In this exploratory art course, students will unite STEM and creativity through hands-on art-making inspired by science! Students will paint using pendulums, create rubbings from leaves, make cyanotype prints from
the sun and much more! This class encourages environmental awareness, appreciation for nature and provides a safe space to create freely.

Students will be dismissed from school to Kaleidoscope staff/class instructor and given a snack prior to class. After class, registered students attending the Kaleidoscope After School Program will be picked up by staff and brought to the Kaleidoscope building. Students who are not enrolled in the Kaleidoscope, should be picked up promptly by their parent or caregiver in the designated enrichment classroom. Children not picked up within 10 minutes of the end of class will join Kaleidoscope After School, and families will be charged accordingly at the drop-in rate.
Please note: Children that need to attend Kaleidoscope after their enrichment class for the remaining part of that day will need to register on homeroom for an additional hour or two for that given day. For example: (one hour after their enrichment class, register for the 4 p.m. pick up time; two hours after enrichment class, register for the 5 p.m. pick up time, etc.)
