What to expect...

June 10-14  This and That

How about a little of this and that this summer to kick off our Summer at Tower Hill? We will begin on Monday with an art exploration of various artists and mediums. On Tuesday we will be cooking and tasting a special recipe for the pickiest of eaters. The middle of the week will be a day of joyful celebration of outdoor physical fun. Thursday will get our campers rockin’ and rollin’ and learning about music of all kinds. Our week will conclude with a trip to Hagley Museum to tinker around this historic landmark. Field Trip: Hagley Museum | In-House Field Trip: School of Rock.

June 17-21  Celebrating the Decades

What do hoop skirts, leather jackets, sipping on a milkshake at the local burger joint, disco balls, tie dye shirts, oversized neon clothes, leg warmers and listening to Madonna have in common? They are just some memorable parts of our most popular decades! Join us as we flashback in time by going back to the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s! Listening to “groovy” music, tasting popular “bodacious” food and creating “totally tubular” crafts, recreating some of the “far out” fashion and developing an appreciation for these decades is just some of the fun we plan to have this week. Field Trip: Goobers Diner.

June 24-28  Animal Adventures

Discover the world of animals! Our week-long study of animals will celebrate the world of wildlife. Campers will learn about mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish! Each day will be a new adventure whether it's on land or under the sea. Campers will make animal prints, stuffed critters and read plenty of animal fictional books. This week will include a trip to a local zoo where we will see and learn about wildlife. In addition, we will have Annie’s Menagerie come to visit us on campus to let us see and touch some friendly creatures up close! Field Trip: Brandywine Zoo | In-House Field Trip: Annie’s Menagerie.

July 1-3  Summer Fun

Summer fun has arrived! With the celebration of the 4th of July, this short week is quintessentially the start of the summer season. To start the week off with a bang, we will craft patriotic flags, fireworks and star-spangled slime. We will make sand structures and 3D beach balls to decorate our halls and walls. For our end-of-week festivities, we will make our own popsicles in our favorite flavors and have fun in the sun with a water balloon toss in addition to a few color war activities! Happy 4th of July!

July 8-12  Pots and Such

Grab a shovel and join us for a week of planting basics. Learn the parts of a plant and its functions from the experts from the Delaware Horticultural Society. Through exploratory activities with live plants, campers will learn how we eat all parts of plants in different ways. Then we will be off to a visit to Longwood Gardens to experience garden magnificence! Design your own vegetable garden and learn the basics of gardening. Field Trip: Delaware Horticulture Society and Longwood Gardens.

July 15-19  Sprinkles

Baking has always been a favorite pastime enjoyed by many, but it is not often that you get to make Atomic Cake Pops or Unicorn Bark! Everyone needs to learn simple basics like cookies and cakes because these simple baked goodies are a great foundation for baking skills. However, how about learning to bake croissants and scones from scratch? Campers enrolled in this themed camp will delight in the magic of all kinds of sweet confections. And a trip to Riverfront Bakery will be the perfect topping to this sweet treat camp! Field Trip: The Riverfront Bakery.

July 22-26  Life is Good

People often say the simple things in life are the best! This week we will capture the hearts of our campers as they enjoy activities that create sheer happiness. One day this week, we will enjoy an in-house visit from our friends at Petite Yogi to center our minds and bodies. A visit to a local favorite, The Woodside Farm Creamery, will be the highlight for campers. We will learn about how ice cream is made and go on a tour of this summertime hotspot. Then off to Brandywine Creek State Park for a hiking tour to learn and appreciate nature and all of its bounties. Life is Good this week at Tower Hill! Field Trip: Woodside Creamery and Brandywine Creek State Park | In-House Field Trip: Petite Yogi.

July 29 - Aug 2  The Science Workshop

Join us for a week of science fun! Science Explorers will join us for a day of scientific exploration of the three states of matter—liquids, gasses and solids. The mixing of polymers will foster discussion of all of the states of matter, creating Mini Matter Monsters to take home! But first, these young scientists will create chariots for their little monsters for a Pinewood Derby Race! The young scientists will experiment with Legos to do STEM challenge tasks throughout the week as well. In-House Field Trip: Science Explorers.
